How to apply

This step-by-step guide gives you an overview of how to apply for TAFE NSW courses. Check the enrolment information on the course brochure to confirm the date and time of enrolment for your course.

For some courses, you must apply before you can enrol.

Step 1: Make sure you meet the course entry requirements

Many of our courses have entry requirements. These are the qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience you must have before you can enrol.

The entry requirements for a course are contained in the course's listing. You can find your course using the Courses/Career finder search.

Step 2: Contact your preferred college or campus

  • Check that the college will run the course in 2010.
  • Enquire about any special pre-enrolment procedures – to be considered for some courses you may have to attend an information session, sit a test, attend an interview or audition, or submit a portfolio.
If there is no application closing date under the course listing, then you can proceed to Step 1 in Enrolling.

Step 3: For some courses, you must apply before you can enrol

Some popular courses require an application prior to enrolment. It's easy to tell if a course requires an application – an application date is included in the course listing.

  • You will need to complete the TAFE NSW Application Form (PDF file, 147 KB).
  • You must submit your application form to the college offering your first preference course.
  • Please note, application codes can be found in the Application Code Booklet (PDF file, 109 KB).
  • Amendments to an application can be made on the Application Amendment Form (PDF file, 49 KB).
  • If your application is successful, you will receive details of when and how to enrol.
If you have difficulty accessing these files, please contact us.
