Elliot has had a love for fashion design since he was young and his mother taught him to sew.

“Studying at Ultimo was a wonderful ride. For me, it was simply the most positive educational experience possible. I’d call it educational heaven! You could share your passion with each other, challenge yourself and leap forward.

“I liked the teachers’ approach. Whilst they became your friend they were also your teacher. I felt that we all belonged to the same family.”

Kathleen found out that she had been named Sydney Institute’s Apprentice of the Year on her 21st birthday!

“I have really enjoyed studying at Ultimo. Everyone is up to speed here. The facilities are up to date and the learning atmosphere is great. Through TAFE, I was able to continue my apprenticeship at Rockpool, and then I later left and moved to Bistro Moncur. Everything was crazy at times with my working hours and combining this with TAFE. With the help of my teachers I was offered the chance to attend extra classes and accelerate my apprenticeship.”

Susan was offered the exciting opportunity to study for six months in Denmark as part of her Diploma course at TAFE.

“My exchange to Denmark provided a wonderful personal development moment for me when I realised, ‘I could do it’! I now feel more confident in my ability to adapt to different jobs in the architectural industry.”
